John Muir Weekly May 15th

Dear Families,

This week our classes had the opportunity to work with Science Ventures, a non-profit organization, that offers hands-on, minds-on science, engineering and technology learning opportunities for youth.

Some of the topics that were explored were matter, light and sound, forces and magnets, and rocks. The students had a great time learning about the topics and participating in science experiments.

We are noticing an increase of toys being brought to school. Unfortunately, we have also noticed that toys get broken or go missing, and as such, we are asking students to please keep all toys at home. If your child needs a toy/stuffy for the sake of comfort, please reach out to your child’s teacher. Thank you so much for your support.

On May 20, we will be welcoming our New Kindergarten students to John Muir for our Kindergarten Orientation. Families and children will meet our K team, have a play on our playground, and participate in a variety of Kindergarten activities. We look forward to welcoming our new K’s to John Muir!

In June, staff will begin the class placement process for next school year.  If you have a specific request, please email Mrs. DeLeenheer (tdeleenheer@sd62.bc.ca) by May 31, 2025.  Please do not request a specific teacher. Instead, we ask that you describe the type of teaching style that you believe would best suit your child(ren).  Note that requests will be taken into consideration; however, there are no guarantees that they will be accommodated. Please send these requests in writing only.
