Friday Newsletter – March 6, 2026
Dear Families,
Last night, we were honoured to host a Na’tsa’Maht Community Dinner and to welcome Elders, staff, families, and community members to share in this special event together. Our staff and students contributed beautifully to the event by creating thoughtful artwork and writing pieces inspired by the Saanich moon, the “Moon of the Child.” Their work reflected care, creativity, and a deep respect for the teachings connected to this moon. It was wonderful to come together as a community to celebrated learning, culture, and connection. We ended the evening with a slideshow highlighting the ways we connect and learn with our Elders, in the classroom, and on the land.
Thank you!
A big thank you to Brody in Ms. Purnell’s class and his mom, Lindsay for donating toy trucks for our sandbox. The students are thoroughly enjoying the new toys!
Lost and Found
We have several items in our lost and found collection. The lost and found will be placed outside by the main entrance at the end of the day on March 13. Any items not collected will be donated.
Parking Lot Drop off and Pick up
A gentle reminder to families to please use the designated parking spaces during drop off and pick up. Families should not be stopping and parking their vehicles in a spot that is not specifically designated for parking. Please help us keep our parking lots safe for our students and accessible for all during drop off and pick up.
Grade 4 Student Learning Survey
The Provincial Student Learning Survey is unique in its scope, size and usefulness to schools. It gathers information from parents/guardians/caregivers, teachers, and students on topics related to school environment, safety, and achievement. The information is used for planning in individual schools and provides a district and provincial perspective.
Early in 2026 the Student Learning Survey will be administered to students in grade 4, their parents/guardians/caregivers, and all school staff. We encourage parents/guardians/caregivers to participate in this survey, as the results are important in identifying and celebrating current strengths, as well as determining where the school needs to focus improvement. The surveys contain standard questions for the Province – in addition, questions from the school and/or district that focus on local conditions or issues may be included.
The survey can be completed electronically and can be accessed on the Internet at https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/education-training/k-12/support/student-learning-survey. Any computer or mobile device with an Internet connection can be used, and access to the e-survey is simple and secure. The survey can be accessed through the link and by clicking on Take the Survey. On the login page, click on the Parents icon, and then select the school district and school name where your child attends school. Provincial, District and School Reports for previous years can be viewed at the same site under the Results section.
The e-survey site will be open until May 1, 2026.
If you have any questions, please contact the school at 250-642-5427.
