John Muir Weekly June 19

 

Dear Families,

Today, Mr. Tony, our Student Engagement Facilitator, hosted the first annual Sprucewood Derby. Students in Grades 2, 3, 4, and 5 have been working hard this year to create race cars. Today’s event not only celebrated the work that both Mr. Tony and the students have done this year but also gave students a chance to race their cars against each other. Students won prizes for the fastest cars, the safest cars, and best car design. A big thank to Mr. Tony and his father-in-law Henry for building the racetrack. It’s been a fantastic learning opportunity for our students and a very exciting event!

We also had a wonderful day at Fishboat Bay. Our students enjoyed a glorious day of sun, building sandcastles, digging holes, and exploring. A big thank you to our PAC for making this day possible by covering the cost of our buses and providing the students with a treat!

Report cards will be available to read in MyEd on Tuesday, June 24. If families have difficulties accessing MyEd, please connect with Ms. Rasheeda in the office at 250-642-5427.

Thank-you for returning library books; there are still over 75 to be returned by Monday. Please double check the library stickers on the front because about 8 just got brought to us by the Sooke Library – some of which were bought just over a month ago!
